Daniil Medvedev’s Ambitions Keep Going Up
When the betting markets were released, Daniil Medvedev’s Wimbledon 2024 odds were +2800, suggesting that his chance of winning wasn’t great. However, with a little bit of luck and a great deal of skill and determination, the 6’6 first-serve specialist got himself to the semifinals.
In the quarterfinal, he defeated the No. 1 player in the ATP Rankings, Jannik Sinner. The match lasted for nearly four hours, after which the +280 underdog got a win.
Can he upset the odds once more? He sure will try. One thing that’s giving him confidence is that he’s already won one Wimbledon match against Carlos Alcaraz, beating the Spaniard 3:0. However, it happened back in 2021, when Alcaraz was only 18.
Carlos Alcaraz Aiming Another Major
After finishing second in the ATP Rankings last year and dropping some points in the early months of 2024, Carlos Alcaraz finds himself in third place on the list of the best male players. However, despite a relatively slow start to the campaign, he switched to top gear in May and has been playing amazing tennis since.
In June, he won the 2024 French Open, and a month later, he’s planning to do the same with Wimbledon. He’s the defending champ in this tournament, having won the trophy last year after beating Novak Djokovic in the final and Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal.
In the match with Medvedev, Alcaraz was nothing short of brilliant, winning 3:0 after only one hour and 50 minutes spent on the court.
Daniil Medvedev vs. Carlos Alcaraz Prediction
Our prediction is that Alcaraz will win this match, but it won’t be easy for him. Medvedev is great when it comes to serving the ball, so we might see the Spanish star struggle to deal with his powerful shots. Still, we do think that he’s got what it takes to get to the final.
Pick: Carlos Alcaraz
