Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons Week 9 Odds, Time, and Prediction
The Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons Week 9 game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium looks like a fine opportunity for Mike McCarthy’s men to start winning again. The 2024 NFL odds aren’t favoring them, but they need to go all-in on Sunday, November 3
The Dallas Cowboys are underperforming in the 2024 NFL with a 3-4 record, which has led to speculation about whether the franchise owner Jerry Jones will fire coach Mike McCarthy. The 82-year-old businessman still hasn’t done it, but he might axe the 60-year-old coach if the Cowboys lose to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.
Mike McCarthy’s odds of getting fired are +475 right now, but they’re bound to shorten if his team messes up in the Cowboys vs. Falcons game on Sunday. So, will they? Let’s find out!

A Must-Win for Mike McCarthy and Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys lost three games this season, with two of those losses happening in their last two games. First, they got obliterated by the Detroit Lions at home, with the final score being 47-9.
It was their worst loss since 1988, and the worst thing is that it happened on Jerry Jones’ 82nd birthday. The loss ruined the party for the Dallas Cowboys owner, but he decided not to fire the party-breaker, Mike McCarthy.
He also decided against sacking the coach after last weekend’s 30:24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. It’s understandable as they played on the road and were playing against last season’s NFC champions.
Another loss, however, could force Jones to get rid of McCarthy. This goes especially if the Cowboys lose to the Falcons, a team they defeated in each of their previous three duels.
Atlanta Falcons Looking Good With Kirk Cousins at QB
The Atlanta Falcons are 5-3 in the 2024 NFL and it’s mostly thanks to their new quarterback, Kirk Cousins. The 36-year-old signal-caller started his life at Mercedes-Benz Stadium slowly, but then quickly improved his game.
In three of his last four outings, Cousins had a QB Rating of over 74. His arguably best performance happened last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida. We saw him go 23/29 for 276 yards, 4 touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Two of those TD passes were caught by Kyle Pitts, who seems to be growing to become one of the best tight ends in the league. Given that the Cowboys are the 2024 NFL’s second-worst defense, it’s only logical to assume that the Cousins-Pitts duo will wreak havoc on them come Sunday, November 3.
But football isn’t just about offense; it’s also about defense, which doesn’t seem to be Atlanta’s straight this fall. These guys conceded over 20 points in each of their last seven games in the NFL. Plus, in their last two games, they conceded a total of 60 points.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons Predictions
The Falcons look great with their new QB, but Kirk Cousins has a very poor record against the Cowboys. He’s 2-9 against them, which suggests that the boys from Texans know how to stop this guy. We’re sure he’ll produce a couple of TDs, but we predict he won’t do as well as last weekend.
If their defense manages to keep Cousins to under 4 TDs, the Cowboys will stand a chance in Week 9. Of course, it also depends on how QB Dak Prescot performs. Although he’s been unimpressive in 2024, we know how good this guy is. Therefore, we have no other option but to back the Cowboys.
Pick: Dallas Cowboys
