Choctaw Nation Partners with Dallas Open as Texas Considers Betting
While the Choctaw Nation is based in Oklahoma, it has been bullish in its efforts to grow its presence across the US
Choctaw Casinos & Resorts, the Choctaw Nation’s gaming and hospitality arm, has unveiled a tie-up with the Dallas Open, a popular ATP Tour tennis competition. This partnership was unveiled amid rumors that Texas sports betting might be on the table in 2025.
Texas to Mull over Sports Betting
As one of the largest states in the USA, Texas has long been considered a huge untapped market by casino and betting companies alike. While previous efforts to expand the local gaming industry have ended in resounding failure, this hasn’t stopped pro-gambling lawmakers from trying over.
Las Vegas Sands has been one of the staunchest supporters of casino gaming in Texas, with its owner Miriam Adelson spending millions on her efforts to drive regulatory change. These efforts have been further supported by experts who believe regulated gaming would generate billions in economic benefits.
According to the most recent news, Texas lawmakers are set to discuss sports betting in 2025. While this doesn’t necessarily mean that the Lone Star State will move forward with the legalization, the Choctaw Nation has decided to expand its presence in local sports ahead of time.
The Nation will Create a Choctaw Club at the Ford Center
In 2025, the Dallas Open will move to the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, elevating the event to ATP 500 status.
The new partnership with Choctaw Casinos & Resorts is set to include a variety of activations. Most importantly, the Choctaw brand will create the Choctaw Club at the Ford Center, which will include free-to-play table games, as well as varied food and beverage options. In addition to that, the Choctaw Nation will have a public hospitality area that will offer interactive entertainment to fans.
While the Choctaw Nation is based in Oklahoma, it has been bullish in its efforts to grow its presence across the US. To that end, its Casino & Resorts arm has teamed up with a variety of sports organizations. In Texas alone, the company has existing agreements with the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars and the Texas Rangers.
Even if betting is still far away, the tribal entity is positioned to capitalize on its launch, should it happen.
Heidi Grant, senior executive officer of the Choctaw Nation commented on the partnership, saying that it will allow the tribal operator to further showcase the elevated experience it offers. She added that she is proud to bring the Choctaw Nation’s premium hospitality offering to tennis fans in North Texas.
