Alliance Global to Construct a $301M Integrated Resort in the Philippines

TIHGI applied for a license to develop and operate an integrated resort casino inside Mactan Newtown in 2023, setting up the groundwork for the project

The Philippines is awaiting the construction of a new integrated resort, which is set to channel more tourists toward the archipelagic country. The project is the brainchild of Alliance Global Inc’s Travellers International Hotel Group Inc (TIHGI) and is set to begin construction in 2025.

TIHGI Hopes to Channel Tourists Toward Its New Property

Initial estimates predict that the resort’s construction will cost roughly $301 million. The property will be named Mactan World Resorts and, as the name suggests, will be based on Mactan Island. The integrated resort will be located in the Lapu-Lapu City and will include a hotel, casino and various entertainment facilities.

TIHGI’s goal is to consolidate its local presence and channel more tourists toward its properties. The company, which operates Newport World Resorts in Metro Manila’s Entertainment City, is hoping to replicate its success in Mactan Newtown.

Newport World Resorts, for context, was formerly known as Resorts World Manila. It is the first and, to this date, the largest integrated resort in the Philippines.

TIHGI to Tap into the Philippines’ Second Most-Visited Area

TIHGI applied for a license to develop and operate an integrated resort casino inside Mactan Newtown in 2023, setting up the groundwork for the project. According to TIHGI, the construction of Mactan World Resorts should conclude in 2026.

Experts believe that the new property would significantly bolster the region’s economy. According to them, Mactan World Resorts would be able to generate roughly $4.3 million in property and business taxes within five years of its opening.

In addition, Georgina Alvarez, executive director of TIHGI, told SunStar Cebu that the new resort is set to create some 5,000 new jobs.

TIHGI hopes that the property’s strategic proximity to Mactan-Cebu International Airport will make it more attractive to international visitors. Cebu, for context, is the second most-visited destination after Manila, sparking optimism about the future of Mactan World Resorts.
