World Poker Tour Drives Stronger Forays in India with PokerBaazi

PokerBaazi paves the way for further expansion for the World Poker Tour in India, as poker’s popularity continues to grow steadfastly

The World Poker Tour (WPT) has signed a new partnership to strengthen its global footprint and reach. The tie-up with Indian poker platform PokerBaazi allows the platform to reach new audiences and bring cutting-edge events to local players but also offers quite a few boons to the local poker community in return.

WPT Makes Another Move on the Indian Online Poker Market

Thanks to this alliance with PokerBaazi, local players will now be able to access WPT events and participate in online tournaments and qualifiers, including satellite events allowing players to grind through the tiers and earn significant packages that allow them to compete in some of the largest events hosted by the organization.

Commenting on the opportunity to work with PokerBaazi, WPT CEO Adam Pliska did not mince his words, arguing that the partnership was indeed a welcomed one, and a fantastic opportunity for WPT to expand its presence in India, a country of avid poker players.

“India is a fast-growing market for poker, and through this collaboration, we look forward to nurturing new talent and giving Indian players a pathway to poker stardom,” Pliska added. Of course, WPT’s brand recognition is not the only part of this deal.

PokerBaazi has successfully catered to local players for years now, becoming synonymous with competitive and professional poker, and also creating an ecosystem in which players who are only starting can truly shine based on skill alone.

Commenting on the partnership, Baazi Games founder & CEO Navkiran Singh was similarly optimistic about the upcoming partnership and its implications:

We are excited to join forces with the World Poker Tour and expand further in bringing an elite poker experience to our players in India. This partnership reinforces our commitment to providing the best opportunities and platforms for Indian players to excel on both national and global stages.

WPT Pivots Strongly Towards New Online Markets

This new expansion move comes after the WPT confirmed that it would not be holding a seminal event in Macau projected to take place in June this year. There were no details provided at the time as to why the WPT had chosen to withdraw from the event, but WPT’s official account said that there would be other opportunities to play regionally.

At the same time, the WPT is clearly doubling down in India, hoping to reach even bigger audiences and create a global pool of players who can zip-zap across the world of high-stakes poker and gain entry by demonstrating their ability of the game and understanding of poker.
