Vista Could Sell Stats Perform, Says Anonymous Source

Vista Equity Partners, an American investment company, could be exploring a sale of sports data company Stats Perform, according to anonymous sources familiar with the company’s plans Sportico reported.

Stats Perform formed after a merger made by Vista when the company merged STATS LLC and Perform Content in 2019.

In 2014, the investment company acquired STATS, a leading sports statistics company at that time, from Fox Sports and Associated Press. In 2019 Vista acquired Perform Content from Perform Group and merged it with STATS. The joined company works with official data for teams and leagues and packages it for betting operators and media companies.

Stats Perform partners include ESPN, LaLiga, Bet 365, William Hill, and Google. To create predictive models, Stats Perform utilizes machine learning and AI. If the company sells, it would be one of the biggest news and major ownership changes in the sports data industry.

Currently, Vista has more than $75 billion in assets under management. Besides Stats Perform, the company’s portfolio includes Vivid Seats, a ticket marketplace company that went public in 2021 in a $1.95 billion deal, and event platform Active Network.

Stats Perform Launched PressBox

In May this year, Stats Perform announced the launch of PressBox, an all-in-one online platform, provides an unprecedented rate of data research, delivering video clips and data-driven insights. The platform designed for teams, leagues, and broadcasters who want to improve their fan retention, provides an innovative AI-powered, single-channel experience.

PressBox includes high-quality graphics and analyses in real-time during live events, which has been impossible for sports media organizations until now. The platform combines the most useful resources in one location and is driven by the company’s best-in-class sports data.

In February 2021, Stats Perform launched its performance integrity analysis services intending to fight match-fixing and help protect the integrity of the game. The service tool was named “Essential Tool in the Detection of Match Manipulations” by the Council of Europe. It uses a combination of different types of technology to assist integrity investigations. The council has already used it in its investigations.
