Olympique Marseille vs. Paris Saint-Germain 2024 Ligue 1 Odds, Time, and Prediction

Olympique Marseille vs. Paris Saint-Germain a.k.a. Le Classique is the biggest fixture in French soccer

Winning Le Classique is a huge motivation on its own, but Olympique Marseille have another reason to go all-in on Sunday. Jean-Louis Gasset’s men are 10-9-7 overall, which accounts for 39 points.

They’re seventh in the Ligue 1 standings, so if they want to get into the Euro zone, they need more points. When it comes to Paris Saint-Germain, they just need a few more wins in the Ligue 1 to secure the title.

Olympique Marseille Going All-In in 2024 Le Classique

Olympique Marseille has a pretty good roster in 2024, which is why it’s kind of surprising that L’OM are outside the Euro zone. Their top scorer is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, followed by Ismaila Sarr and Iliman Ndiaye.

They also have some really good midfielders, most notably, Jordan Veretout and Amine Harit. At the back, L’OM have Chancel Mbemba, Leonardo Balerdi, and others. The best thing is that all of these guys are in their prime, while they also have plenty of experience. That said, Marseille definitely looks like a team that could do alright in the Champions League.

They’re four points behind Lille, which is the closest team from the Champions League zone. The good news for Marseille fans is that there’s plenty of time left to challenge for a UCL spot. The bad news is that Marseille has some really tough matches ahead, most notably, PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain Looking (Almost) Unbeatable in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain is 17-8-1 in the French Ligue 1 in the 2023-24 season. This team’s only loss happened in the early weeks of the season – Nice beat them 3-2.

In their first match with Olympique Marseille, PSG won 4-0 in Paris. Actually, the boys from the French capital won each of the last four Le Classique games in the Ligue 1. They did lose to Marseille in the French Cup last year at Velodrome.

Since the start of 2024, PSG is without a single loss. In fact, this team’s only drew four games, winning all the rest. They do have some problems ahead of the 2024 Le Classique, with several of their first-team players expected to miss Sunday’s game.

On the bright side, their best player Kylian Mbappe is 100% fit and is expected to play for the full 90 minutes.

Olympique Marseille vs. Paris Saint-Germain Prediction

Paris Saint-Germain is a much, much better team than Olympique Marseille. However, the boys from the South of France are expected to give all they’ve got in Sunday’s game. The result is that we’ll probably see plenty of goals on both ends. Still, it’s PSG that should score more and take all three points to Paris.

Pick: PSG & Over 2.5 Goals
