Light & Wonder has continued to streamline its Asian operations following the appointments of Glenn Huybrecht as VP and managing director, Asia, whereas Ken Jolly will be now serving as VP of strategic development, Asia, with a new CEO of iGaming appointed as well.

New iGaming CEO Set to Spearhead Light & Wonder’s Business

Simon Johnson, the hitherto SVP and managing director international will now head Light & Wonder’s iGaming business as its new chief executive, the company said in a press release. Johnson will work directly under president and CEO Matt Wilson and will be part of the company’s Executive Leadership Team, as the shake-up continues.

Johnson has been with Light & Wonder since 2017, and he has been one of the instrumental figures in helping the company drive a strong international commercial performance as well as spearhead the iGaming division in core markets.

Before joining Light & Wonder, Johnson held various C-level roles across different companies that have helped him further hone the skills that would help him spearhead Light & Wonder’s own business from 2017 onwards.

In 2005-2006 he worked at media firm The Rights Company. He was a chief commercial and strategy officer at DTS Global Solutions between May 2009 and March 2017 and has been generally represented in high-level positions throughout his professional career.

Company and Johnson Pleased with Appointment at Turn of Year

As to Light & Wonder, the company has welcomed the opportunity to see Johnson appointed to the new position and released the following statement:

“We’re excited to announce that Simon Johnson has been appointed CEO of our iGaming business. In his new role, he will bring his extensive industry expertise to lead igaming into its next chapter. Here’s to an exciting journey ahead.”

Johnson himself was very pleased with the promotion and its implications for his role in the company. He was excited to assume the leadership reins at the iGaming division and use the turn of the year to seek out new opportunities and work on strengthening the company’s business.

The move is not exactly unexpected as the previous iGaming CEO, Dylan Slaney, stepped down in November, and the company has been looking to fill the position for a while now.
