LeoVegas Names Ex-MGA CEO Brincat as Regulatory Director
As the MGA’s former chief executive officer, Brincat has a profound understanding of the regulatory sector and will be of crucial importance to LeoVegas’ growth

Carl Brincat, the former chief executive officer of the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has been onboarded by the LeoVegas Group. According to the announcement, LeoVegas will welcome the gambling regulation expert as its new director of policy and regulatory affairs.
Brincat is set to step into the office in August. He will be based at LeoVegas’ office in Sliema, Malta and will report directly to Abby Cosgrave, the gambling company’s chief legal and compliance officer.
In his new role, Brincat will be tasked with, as the position implies, responsibility for the company’s regulatory matters. As the operator’s new director of policy and regulatory affairs, Brincat will manage LeoVegas’ relationship with gambling authorities across the markets where it operates.
In his new position, Brincat will also be tasked with helping LeoVegas grow its international footprint by overseeing the operator’s policy efforts and relationship with trade bodies.
As the MGA’s former chief executive officer, Brincat has a profound understanding of the regulatory sector and will be of crucial importance to LeoVegas’ growth. He joined the Maltese regulator in 2014, first serving as a legal adviser, and was eventually promoted to CEO. In late 2023, however, Brincat announced that he would be departing from the MGA and was succeeded by Charles Mizzi.
Brincat Is Looking Forward to Working with LeoVegas
Brincat commented on his new appointment, saying that he is very excited about this new opportunity. He praised the LeoVegas Group, saying that he has been a firsthand witness to its growth from a newly founded challenger company to an iGaming leader.
The new director of policy and regulatory affairs also lauded LeoVegas’ strong brands and focus on responsible gambling, saying that the operator’s values align with his own.
The LeoVegas ethos aligns with my own, and I can’t wait to lead the team in supporting the plans to expand commercially whilst continuing to enhance the already excellent relationships with regulators and policymakers around the globe.
