How Good Is Jacksonville’s QB Trevor Lawrence?

The Jacksonville Jaguars finished last season with a 9-8 record, ending up in second place in the AFC South, therefore failing to qualify for the postseason. This time, they’re determined to get to the playoffs. The man they believe can do this for them is their quarterback, Trevor Lawrence.

The evidence of the faith the Jaguars have in this game is that earlier this year, they extended his contract, making him one of the highest-paid NFL players ever. In fact, he’s tied with Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow for the No. 1 spot on the all-time rich list.

So, is he really that good? We think he is. He just had a lot of injury problems last year. This time around, he looks 100% healthy. Plus, in 2024, he’ll have plenty of fantastic options to pass the ball to. Gabe “Big-Game Gabe” Davis has arrived in Jacksonville from the Buffalo Bills, with Brian Thomas Jr. looking as one of the best draft picks of the year.

Miami Dolphins Offense Looks Great; Defense Not So Much

With Miami Dolphins at QB and Tyreek Hill at WR, Miami’s offense looks incredible. These guys were the AFC’s most productive offense with a 27.9 points per game average last season. Our prediction is that they’re going to get closer (if not even higher) than that number in 2024.

Their offense will actually need to step up as their defense looks leaky. At least that’s the case ahead of Week 1. It’s because the Dolphins are going to miss several important players from the defensive team due to injury problems, most notably, linebackers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips.

Our prediction is that this is going to be a high-scoring game. The Miami Dolphins look capable of scoring 20+ points against almost any opponent in the league. Their defense, however, doesn’t seem capable of stopping Trevor Lawrence & Co. This is why our pick is Jacksonville.
