IGT’s Flagship Games Paid Out $6M in Jackpots in September

IGT also continued to grow its presence in the US by launching the Wheel of Fortune slots brand into Illinois’ video lottery terminal (VLT) sector

IGT, a global leader in gaming, announced that its top games, Wheel of Fortune and Megabucks, have paid out more than $6 million in jackpots in September alone. This announcement comes as IGT prepares to launch Wheel of Fortune in Illinois’ VLT market.

IGT Minted Two More Millionaires

According to IGT, its Wheel of Fortune and Megabucks slot games delivered more than $6 million in jackpots in September. This jaw-dropping figure was due to two huge jackpots won by players in the United States.

IGT’s announcement confirmed that the company’s games awarded two life-changing prizes, which included a $2.9 million Wheel of Fortune jackpot and a $3.2 million Megabucks jackpot.

The former prize was won by a player in New York on September 25. The lucky slot enthusiast was firing up the reels of a Wheel of Fortune Triple Stars game at MGM Resorts’ Empire City Casino in Yonkers when they won a staggering $2,995,532.

On the very next day (September 26), a separate player won $3,194,568 playing Megabucks Mega Vault. IGT elaborated that the prize was won at Twin Pine Casino & Hotel in Middletown, California. For context, this was the second “mega-sized” Megabucks jackpot at that casino, following a mouth-watering $8.4 million win in 2010.

Megabucks, which is the world’s first WAP jackpot system, has been awarding jackpots since 1986. The Wheel of Fortune slot series, on the other hand, launched in 1996 and has so far minted some 1,200+ millionaires.

Wheel of Fortune Goes VLT

In other news, IGT continued to grow its presence in the US by launching the Wheel of Fortune slots brand into Illinois’ video lottery terminal (VLT) sector. Thanks to a partnership with VLT leader Gold Rush Gaming, IGT will expand the Wheel of Fortune series into a whole new vertical. The agreement with a local leader will allow IGT’s games to quickly reach players.

The new Wheel of Fortune VLT thus appeared on IGT’s RISE55 portrait cabinet. With a 55-inch state-of-the-art display, the cabinet will perfectly highlight Wheel of Fortune’s strengths.

IGT and Gold Rush Gaming celebrated the new tie-up with a series of events.

Tim Shortall, IGT’s regional VP of sales, commented on the matter, saying that is was thrilled to team up with Gold Rush and build on Wheel of Fortune’s legacy.
