Hard Rock’s Guitar Hotel in Las Vegas Is Already Taking Shape

As part of the Hard Rock rebranding, the Mirage buildings will undergo a complete renovation, including a full overhaul and remodeling of the hotel rooms

On the grounds of the former Mirage in Las Vegas, where the legendary volcano once erupted, the distinctive curves of the towering 660-foot Hard Rock Guitar Hotel are starting to emerge over the Strip, with construction advancing at a steady pace. The Guitar Hotel is the centerpiece of the new project, and it’s crucial for the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s rebranding of the former Mirage property.

The Guitar Hotel Is Reshaping the Old Mirage Casino

The shape of the bottom of an electric guitar is now unmistakably clear, as workers were seen this week installing window panes on the structure. The Hard Rock Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas is reportedly on track to open by early Q4 2027. The property will offer 3,675 hotel rooms, 175,000 square feet of gaming space, multiple pools, two spas, live entertainment venues, and a variety of restaurants, lounges, and retail shops.

This will be the second Hard Rock gaming property in the Las Vegas Valley, following the original Hard Rock Hotel, which operated from 1995 to 2020. Plans for the new Hard Rock were unveiled in December 2021, and Hard Rock took over operations of the Mirage a year later, before closing it on July 17, 2024.

Construction on the Hard Rock project began the day after the closure of the Mirage. As part of the rebranding, the Mirage buildings will undergo a complete renovation, including a full overhaul and remodeling of the hotel rooms. Additionally, the casino and convention spaces will be expanded.

Interestingly, fans of the original Mirage venue could get their hands on memorabilia from the iconic hotel and casino, as over 300 sculptures and paintings from it were put on auction during the summer.

The Guitar Hotel is Crucial for the Seminole Tribe’s Plans

The Seminole Tribe of Florida is said to have invested an additional 7% into the $4.3 billion overhaul, boosting entertainment features like expanded pools and a redesigned casino floor. Recent changes, such as the removal of a southern pedestrian bridge to Harrah’s, have fueled rumors of cost-cutting measures.

However, a Hard Rock spokesperson addressed the speculation in June, describing the adjustments as “strategic refinements” aimed at improving guest flow. It should also be noted that the northern bridge to the Venetian is still planned.

The Guitar Hotel is being built during a time that sees the Seminole Tribe see good business, in particular thanks to its Florida revenue. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa has surpassed $2 billion in jackpot payouts for the fourth consecutive year, proving the popularity of the Seminole’s venues and tribe is keen to capitalize on this with its Las Vegas property.
