Everton’s Forwards Really Need to Start Scoring

Everton’s horrible run of five Premier Leagues without a win came to an end on Wednesday when the Toffees destroyed Wolves 4:0. It was the first time these guys scored more than two goals since December last year.

That’s definitely good news for their confidence, as before that game, they were one of the two teams with the lowest number of goals scored (along with Southampton). The bad news, however, is that none of those goals were scored by Everton’s attackers.

In fact, one was the work of veteran wing-back Ashley Young, one was scored by midfielder Orel Mangala, while the other two were own goals by one of Wolves’ defenders.

Meanwhile, Everton’s attackers – Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Iliman Ndiaye, Armando Broja, and others – only have five goals in 14 Premier League games between them.

Liverpool’s Players Want to Start Winning Again ASAP

The Reds have been fantastic under Arne Slot. They’re doing great in all competitions they’re playing in, including the Premier League. In fact, they’re currently sitting at the top of the table with 35 points, which is seven points more than Chelsea and Arsenal, who are occupying the two spots below.

The problem is that the 2024-25 season still hasn’t even reached its half-point, so they need to keep on working hard if they want to win the title. It also means that they mustn’t let tiny mistakes cost them points, as was the case in their most recent game.

They had a lead against Newcastle until the 90^th minute when goalkeeper Kelleher decided not to catch the ball but let it fly past. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t count on one of Newcastle’s players lurking behind – it was Fabian Schar who slid behind him and placed the ball into the net.

Liverpool’s goalkeeper, as well as his colleagues from the defensive line, weren’t great in that game, but their offensive teammates were. This goes especially for Mohamed Salah, who seems to be having the time of his life right now.

He scored two goals – really nice ones as well – and made one assist in that game. It was the seventh Premier League game in a row that we saw him score at least a goal.

Liverpool’s coach, Arne Slot, is aware that his team’s Achilles Heel – at least for the time being – is the defense. Luckily for him, the Reds’ next opponent is a team with very unproductive forwards.

That said, we do think Liverpool will take things a bit more cautiously than before. As a result, there probably won’t be too many goals. But there will be some, that’s for sure. After all, we don’t think anyone can stop Salah from scoring.
