Dayana Yastremska Ready to Give All She’s Got in the AO24 Semifinal

Dayana Yastremska is the WTA No. 93, whose odds of winning the Australian Open were longer than +15000. But she’s proved the bookies wrong by getting to the semifinal.

On the road to the semis, she won four matches 2-0 and one 2-1. The only set she lost happened to Emma Navarro in the third round of the tournament. In the following match, however, she destroyed the favored Victoria Azarenka in straight sets.

Then, in her most recent game, Yastremska beat Linda Noskova routinely in under an hour and a half. Now, she’s facing a much tougher challenge, but she’s got a lot of confidence she can beat Zheng as well.

The 2024 Australian Open odds, however, aren’t on her side, but, then again, she probably doesn’t care much. After all, Yestremska was the underdog in each of her last three AO matches.

Reasons Why Qinwen Zheng Is the Betting Favorite

Qinwen Zheng is 15^th in the WTA Rankings and is one of the contenders to win the trophy in Melbourne. She hasn’t been too impressive so far, dropping a set in three matches at the 2024 Australian Open. One of those was in the quarterfinal, in which she beat Anna Kalinskaya 2-1 after nearly two and a half hours on the court.

Ranked 75^th in the world, Kalinskaya is the second-best player Zheng has defeated so far. The highest-ranked player she won against in Melbourne is Katie Boulter, who’s 54^th. Knowing this, her success at the Australian Open isn’t too impressive. But she’ll get all the credit if she manages to beat Yestremska.
