In a grand display of community and solidarity, BGaming joined forces with White Label Casinos and NEXT.io to organize the DAR Bjorn Charity Gala, a high-impact event aiming to raise support for Malta’s only neurological home for people struggling with ALS, MS, and other neurodegenerative conditions. The gala also aimed to bolster awareness of DAR Bjorn’s vital work, aligning with broader efforts by gambling companies to give back to the community.
Industry Stakeholders United Behind a Common Cause
The event, hosted on May 9 at the historic Villa Bighi, drew in over 400 guests. These included philanthropists, Malta business representatives, and leaders from the country’s thriving iGaming sector. The event was a resounding success, raising over €200,000 ($225,000). The entire amount will go towards building a new respite center under the DAR Bjorn initiative.
All the guests at the gala united around a message of purpose, as they were there for more than cocktails and idle conversation. Attendees were there to make a difference, initiating a fundraising effort that far surpassed expectations. It included an art auction, ticket sales, and an exclusive merchandise line called “Dream Big. Give Bigger,” created in collaboration with Swag42.
The role of DAR Bjorn in Malta’s health scene cannot be overstated. Established by ALS activist Bjorn Formosa, the center provides state-of-the-art treatment to patients fighting serious neurological disorders, many of whom have nowhere else to go. Its upcoming respite facility will offer short-term care to patients and families, something in short supply across the island nation.
Social Engagement Remains a Priority
BGaming directly contributed €20,000 ($22,500) to the fundraiser. The donation will fund the construction of a vital room within the new center, underlining the company’s deepening roots in Malta and its belief in giving back to the community that hosts its operations. BGaming CEO Marina Ostrovtsova thanked all other participants in the event and praised every individual and business that contributed.
This event demonstrates how our industry can be a force for good, showing that we can make a meaningful difference through collective action.
Marina Ostrovtsova, BGaming CEO
The gala was more than just a fundraiser, aiming to become a rallying point for Malta’s broader iGaming community to come together for something beyond just business. For BGaming, the initiative signals a growing commitment to enhanced social engagement and values-driven, purposeful action. As the company continues its European expansion, such initiatives form a core aspect of its identity.
This newest event coincides with the growing scrutiny that gambling companies face regarding their societal impact. Such efforts demonstrate how the industry can be a force for good, making an impact where it will be most felt. As construction begins on the new DAR Bjorn Respite Centre, BGaming’s positive efforts will echo into the future.
