The South African rugby association announced it entered into a ground-breaking sponsorship deal with Betway to make the sports betting and online gaming brand an associate sponsor of the governing body and the Springboks.
“This new partnership will enable us to work together in bringing our passionate fans even closer to the game.”Jurie Roux, CEO, SA Rugby
Sponsor of the World Champions
The 3-year deal between SA Rugby and Betway South Africa is the first-of-its-kind partnership for SA Rugby with a company operating in the sports betting industry.
“Partnering with the world champions marked a momentous stride in the brand’s ever-evolving approach to consumer engagement. The Springboks are undoubtedly South Africa’s most successful national sports team, with their success deeply rooted in the rich history and culture of this country.”David Rachidi, Marketing Manager, Betway SA
Under the terms of the deal, the Springboks will have Betway’s logo displayed on their shorts starting this Saturday in the opening match of the 2021 Castle Lager Rugby Championship when they host Argentina.
“We are excited to be partnering with Betway as this will stretch beyond the four white lines of a rugby field – Betway have some exciting new initiatives that will be announced in due course as part of the new partnership, and we are excited to see what the future holds.”Jurie Roux, CEO, SA Rugby
Expanding Presence in South African Sport
For Betway, the partnership with the Springboks is an opportunity to expand its reach to sports fans, communities, and game stakeholders in the country which already saw the betting operator undertake several community rugby initiatives in the past several years.
“As a globally-acclaimed brand that has found a home in South Africa, such a partnership signifies our commitment to playing a leading role in growing the game of rugby across the board.”David Rachidi, Marketing Manager, Betway SA
Betway branding will be displayed on the field and on perimeter branding at home test matches of the champions as part of the deal which made the brand an associate sponsor of SA Rugby and the team.
“Over the years, the team has defied the high odds that were stacked against them, so we look forward to partnering with them as they continue their quest to remain the world’s best rugby team.”David Rachidi, Marketing Manager, Betway SA
Betway is already present in South African sport after a deal in February saw the brand named title sponsor for the country’s T20 Challenge cricket tournament, after already being named title sponsor of all Proteas Tests and One-Day International series.
