Bayern Munich Going All-In on the Champions League
For the first time in 12 years, Bayern Munich won’t win the German Bundesliga title. After winning the last 11 seasons, Bayern Munich lost the trophy to Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern also got knocked out from the German Cup (DFB Pokal) in the Round of 32 back in November.
What this means is that the 2024 Champions League is Bayern’s only opportunity to win a trophy this season. The first obstacle on the road to the UCL title comes in the form of Real Madrid.

Thomas Tuchel’s men have the motivation, but do they have the quality to knock out Los Blancos in the semifinal? Although these guys haven’t been too impressive during this campaign, they do have plenty of talent on the roster.
In fact, Bayern is probably the most well-rounded team on the planet, with at least one world-class player for every position on the field. Overall, Harry Kane has been their arguably most impressive player in the 2023-24 campaign, while in their decisive quarterfinal duel with Arsenal, Joshua Kimmich was the man of the match.
Real Madrid Must Not be Underestimated
Carlo Ancelotti’s men came to the Champions League semifinal phase after knocking the previous champion Manchester City out of the competition. After 4-4 on aggregate, the two had a penalty shootout to decide who’s going to advance forward. Thanks to Real Madrid’s backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, Los Blancos won this battle.
Man City had 33 shots against Real Madrid, including 9 on goal, and had 18 corners to Madrid's 1.

25-year-old Andriy Lunin only conceded once in regulation, and saved two penalties in the shootout.

Lunin was brilliant in both of those games and so were his colleagues from Real’s defensive line – Nacho Fernandez, Antonio Rudiger, etc. This team’s midfielders helped them a lot, keeping the Cityzens players far away from their goal.
It was tactical brilliance by Ancelotti really, which isn’t surprising given that he’s the most successful manager in the Champions League. That said, you can be sure that he’ll have something ready to deal with Bayern Munich in the first leg of the 2024 UCL semifinal.
Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid Prediction
This is the first leg of the 2024 UCL semifinal doubleheader, so you can expect both teams to play offensively. Given that the game is played in Munich, Bayern is likely to dominate the game. However, if there’s a team that can hit them on the break, it’s Real Madrid with its pacey forwards, Vini Junior, Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham.
That said, we’re certain the Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid game will see goals on both ends. But which team will score more? We think neither. Instead, this game looks destined to end in a tie.
Pick: Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid – Draw; Both Teams to Score
