Ariane da Silva (formerly Lipski) was once known as The Queen of Violence, but she’s looked anything but violent in 2024. Back-to-back losses to Karine Silva and Jasmine Jasudavicius have pushed her to the edge of the Top 15.

Another defeat could be the end of her ranked ambitions. She’s 17-10 overall and still dangerous on the feet. Her ground game isn’t great, however. The numbers don’t lie – she’s been taken down eight times in her last two fights and looked completely out of answers on the ground.

That’s a huge problem against Wang Cong, the former Sanda world champion who’s starting to look like the future of the Flyweight Division.

Nicknamed The Joker, Wang brings a high-pressure style, solid wrestling, and heavy ground-and-pound. She lands an average of 1.61 takedowns per fight and isn’t afraid to get physical early.

Her one weakness? She struggles with elite-level grapplers. The good news for The Joker is that Ariane da Silva isn’t that. She’s a striker through and through, and the Chinese fighter loves fighting such opponents.

Wang Cong has all the tools to dominate this matchup, especially if she gets it to the mat early. Expect her to close the distance, drag da Silva down, and let the fists fly.

But even if Ariane somehow manages to defend against The Joker’s TDs, it won’t help her much. Sure, de Silva is a hell of a striker, but we think Wang Cong is even better.
