UK CMA Okays Sportradar’s Acquisition of IMG Arena
Although the CMA had set October 24 as the deadline for a final decision as to whether it will refer the transaction for a Phase 2 investigation, the authority seems to have reached a decision much sooner

The United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has confirmed on October 3 that it has wrapped up its probe into Sportradar’s acquisition of IMG Arena. The authority has greenlit the merger, allowing the two companies to proceed with the arrangement.
CMA Greenlit the Deal
Earlier this year, Sportradar set out to acquire IMG Arena from Endeavour Holdings in a $125 million deal. I closed, the agreement will see Sportradar integrate another leading data provider into its business, greatly reinforcing its capabilities.
Because of that, on July 11, the CMA launched an invitation to comment on whether the transaction “may be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the UK.”
On August 29, the CMA followed up with a confirmation that it had launched an inquiry into the two parties’ merger. The regulator added that the inquiry will officially begin on September 1.
Although the CMA had set October 24 as the deadline for a final decision as to whether it would refer the transaction for a Phase 2 investigation, the authority seems to have reached a decision much sooner.
According to its official announcement, the CMA has now cleared the deal, allowing it to proceed.
The CMA has cleared the anticipated acquisition by Sportradar Group AG of IMG Arena US Parent, LLC. The full text of the decision will be published shortly.
CMA statement
Sportradar had previously predicted that the merger would close in Q4 2025, subject to a variety of regulatory approvals.
Sportradar Expanded Its Partnership with Bundesliga
In August, Sportradar deepened its ties with Bundesliga International, a soccer portal under the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga’s umbrella. This tie-up renewed the two parties’ long-standing partnership, promising to create new opportunities for fans to engage with the sport.
Among other things, the two parties announced the launch of several new products, including Live Playing Markets, 4Sight Streaming, and an Enhanced Live Match Tracker.
Officials said that this partnership will lay the foundation for creating new ideas and allowing the Bundesliga to stay ahead of the curve.
