The Philippines’ SEC Greenlights Hann Holdings’ IPO

The Philippines has seen fairly low IPO activity in 2025

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the Philippines has greenlit Hann Holdings’ initial public offering (IPO) plans. The company, which operates a casino resort in the country, is planning to go public later this year.

Hann Holdings Seeks to Go Public

Hann Holdings is the owner of Hann Casino Resort, a premium casino resort in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. The company has been eyeing an IPO and has now secured the necessary go-ahead to proceed with these plans.

If everything goes according to plan, Hann Holding will offer up to 500 million of its shares to the public for PHP 23.60 ($0.41) per share. In case there is strong interest in Hann’s shares, the company intends to add an overallotment option of up to 50 million shares, which would be offered at the same price.

Hann’s plan is to run the offering from September 9 to 15. The company’s shares, on the other hand, are planned to officially go live on the Philippine Stock Exchange on September 23.

Hann Holdings Would Be the Country’s Second IPO for 2025

As mentioned, Hann Holdings’ IPO ambition was greenlit by the SEC, which has allowed it to register up to 2.5 billion common shares, subject to additional regulatory approvals.

The SEC believes that Hann Holdings’ IPO could earn the company up to PHP 11.43 billion ($200 million). This money would help the company expand its business, cover expenses and further develop its property.

If Hann Holding’s IPO is successful, it would be the country’s second IPO for the year. The Philippines has seen fairly slow IPO activity in 2025, with the only IPO for 2025 being Top Line Business Development Corp.

Lawmakers Oppose Proposed iGaming Ban

In the meantime, the Philippines continues to discuss the future of iGaming, with some proposing a complete ban on all online gambling activity. This drastic proposal, however, received firm opposition from some lawmakers who pointed out that people will find ways to play regardless of whether it’s legal or not.

Rep. Joseph Bernos said that this is why the government’s oversight is needed and why regulated iGaming should continue to be a thing.
