Spribe Warned in Sweden over Unlicensed Provision of Products

Spribe emphasized that its games found their way to unlicensed operators via a third-party aggregator it had no control over

Gaming provider Spribe has received a warning in Sweden due to its provision of gaming content to unlicensed companies. As a result, the company was asked to stop the provision and was given a $544 slap on the wrist.

The Provider’s Games Appeared on Unlicensed Platforms

While Spribe boasts a Swedish license and has operated legally in the country since July 1, 2023, the content provider was recently accused of providing content to gaming entities that are banned in Sweden. Since supplying content to such companies is a violation of the Swedish Gaming Act, the country’s regulator, Spelinspektionen, asked Spribe to halt the provision.

The Spelinspektionen’s inspection discovered that Spribe had been powering several unlicensed companies with its games. As a result, the company was asked to cease doing so and was asked to provide a statement on its compliance.

Spribe’s statement was issued on December 1, with the company confirming that it has taken immediate action to rectify the issue and remove the games from the unlicensed operators’ platforms. Spribe emphasized that it had taken the matter extremely seriously and had prioritized solving it.

In addition to that, Spribe also discovered unverified games that infringed on its intellectual property.

Spribe Emphasized Its Commitment to Compliance

In its response, Spribe emphasized that its games found their way to unlicensed operators via a third-party aggregator it had no control over. The company emphasized that it never knowingly or intentionally manufactured, provided, installed, or modified gaming software to a company that lacks the necessary license in Sweden.

Thanks to its swift compliance, Spribe was let off with a warning and a SEK 5,000 ($544) penalty.
