ROGA and RGC Join Forces to Develop RG Certification for Online Operators

The ROGA and the RGC have previously worked together on various initiatives, including a joint research on increasing engagement with RG tools and public awareness campaigns

The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) announced a tie-up with the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) that will see the two champion player safety among iGaming operators.

ROGA Teams Up with RGC

The ROGA, which represents operators responsible for 90% of the US sports betting handle, said that its new partnership with the RGC will see the two launch a new responsible gaming certification program for online operators in the US.

According to the ROGA’s official press release, the program will offer a “structured, data-driven approach to evaluating operator practices” in the following areas:

  • Self-exclusion
  • Marketing
  • Staff training
  • Player support tools

The program will therefore validate iGaming operators’ RG performance, encouraging them to adopt best practices and protect their players from harm.

As a proven leader in all facets of responsible gaming, the RGC will assist the ROGA with the creation of its certification program. The RGC’s own RG accreditation program already supports both land-based and online operators, evaluating their player protection strategies.

The ROGA and the RGC have previously worked together on various initiatives, including a joint research on increasing engagement with RG tools and public awareness campaigns. The latest partnership attests to their shared commitment to shielding players from harm an increasing public confidence in the gaming sector as a whole.

A Shared Commitment to Evidence-Based Best Practices

ROGA’s executive director, Dr. Jennifer Shatley, commented on the partnership with the RGC, saying that both parties recognize the importance of sustainability built upon evidence-based best practices.

Our members are committed to long-term progress, and with RGC’s support, this program will serve as a clear signal that the industry is backing that commitment with actions that will allow players to make informed decisions about the platforms they use.

These sentiments were echoed by Sarah McCarthy, CEO of the RGC. She said that her team is proud of the new partnership with ROGA, which will set a new benchmark for responsible gaming among online casinos and sportsbooks.

The new certification program will build on years of evidence-based work and experience building RG Check as a trusted standard. By working together, we are creating a more transparent, accountable, and player-focused industry.
