OYO Hotel & Casino Was the Target of a Cyberattack, News Is Only Coming Out Now

The property is rumored to be cutting its live dealer games, but a new report now suggests that OYO Hotel & Casino faced other troubles throughout the year

The news surrounding the OYO Hotel & Casino continues to percolate, with the latest report coming in from Crain’s New York Business, suggesting that cybercriminals targeted the property at the beginning of the year, resulting in widespread data breach.

OYO Was Subject to a Cyberattack, But No One Knew for Months

According to the report, some 4,700 guests and casino and hotel employees have had their personal data either stolen or compromised. This development only came to light as the result of a legal battle between Highgate Hotels, a hotel management firm, and OYO Hotels, which had a contract with the affected property.

However, OYO Hotels unilaterally ended the contract, citing serious deficiencies in the latter’s IT practices, potentially leading to a data breach. For its part, Highgate has insisted that the New York Labor Law Section 860-a has been breached, filing a lawsuit against the company.

The matter could be further complicated by the fact that OYO did not find out about the breach six weeks after the contract was terminated. The company only found out about the cyber incident on September 18, 2025, when it was finally notified, but the attack happened in  January.

OYO’s data contained numerous sensitive items, such as internal financial data, personal and financial information of hotel and casino patrons, proprietary documentation, and more. OYO is hardly the only Las Vegas company to have been hit with cyberattacks of this sort, with MGM Resorts International and Caesars both suffering a similar fate.

Las Vegas Casinos and Hotels Suffer Similar Fates

Recently, a teenager was indicted in Las Vegas, Nevada, for his alleged involvement in the cyberattacks against Las Vegas hotel and casino giants. While the case did not cite MGM and Caesars’ names, the teenager most likely assisted an international criminal group to commit the crime.

In other news, OYO Hotel and Casino is also planning to shutter its live dealer table games operations and focus on slots and possibly electronic gaming tables, automating the process and slashing expenses tied to the vertical.
