Oregon Player Wins $2K, Suffers 15 Stabs in Violent Robbery
The winner suffered injuries to his arms, face and chest, while police detained a 61-year-old homeless man suspected of the crime

It is not uncommon for casino winners to be targeted by criminals. Despite the investments of casinos toward security, lawbreakers still commit crimes against unsuspected patrons. This is precisely the case of a Portland, Oregon man who was recently attacked, robbed and suffered significant injuries after winning a couple of thousand dollars.
The victim enjoyed his time at Montana’s Bar in Southeast Portland on Saturday. The man was playing lottery machines and after scoring a $2,000 win, he decided to go back home. Little did the victim suspect that he would be followed by a culprit who intended to rob him of the winnings.
Just before entering his home, the casino winner was attacked and stabbed more than a dozen times. The culprit got away with several hundred dollars, leaving the victim in a pool of blood. After an investigation, police arrested a 61-year-old man identified with the initials P.A.F., who is suspected of the robbery, as announced by KOMO News.
As it turns out, the man has a lengthy criminal record. Although he is currently listed as homeless, the 61-year-old suspected attacker has an open case over unauthorized use of a vehicle, as well as possession of a stolen vehicle from 2022 in Multnomah County.
Moreover, in 2021, he was also charged in Washington County over drugs and identity theft. He reportedly has a number of convictions from other states, including California and Arkansas.
P.A.F. is currently facing a range of charges, including robbery, assault burglary, unlawful use of a weapon as well as attempted murder. During an arraignment on Monday, the suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges. For the moment, he remains incarcerated without bail. The 61-year-old man is expected to appear for a hearing in court next week on August 27, 2024.
The Victim Was Stabbed 15 Times
When coming home from Montana’s Bar, the victim was followed by the 61-year-old attacker. The man, who had won $2,000 the same night, walked home and his attacker gained access to his apartment complex.
Allegedly, the 61-year-old attacker is seen on CCTV footage, following the victim before he reached his home. Once there, while the victim was trying to close the door, the attacker allegedly pushed him, as suggested by prosecutors.
Then, the suspect allegedly hit the victim and demanded money. After the victim gave the attacker cash, he wanted more and stabbed him violently 15 times. The attacker used a pocket knife for the violent attack. The victim suffered injuries to his face, arms and chest.
Upon arrival, law enforcement talked to neighbors and searched the building. They suspected that the attacker hadn’t left the area. After a careful search, the suspect was found hiding in a trash room. A sum of $624 in cash was found on the 61-year-old man. His clothes had blood stains on them while police recovered a pocket knife, suspected of being used in the crime, from a cat litter box.
