Netflix’s Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul Betting Banned in Some States
The upcoming bout between the media influencer and the boxing legend has stirred a lot of controversy with gambling regulators now stepping in

A stroke of genius for Netflix and a way to get a big fat paycheck for both Jake Paul, an influencer-cum-boxer and Mike Tyson, a boxing legend, who is well past his fighting prime, the upcoming fight due in several hours has caused quite a stir already.
Either way, the bout is happening, offering outstanding opportunities for bettors, fans, the boxers themselves, and the on-demand platform.
Bettors May Need to Sit Out This One
However, at least one group will be affected as bettors may not be able to wager on the outcome of the fight in Colorado, Kentucky, Louisiana, Vermont, Pennsylvania, and New York, state regulators have confirmed in each of the enumerated states.
This may come as a surprise to many, but it’s actually not. The fight has some specific rules that would not really make it a true bout, and the health of Mike Tyson has been accounted for, given his advanced age and younger opponent.
Some detractors have said that the fight is classified as an official heavyweight competition, not least by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, but this has not stopped regulators from questioning whether it is more of a show than anything else.
These are the exact arguments used by several state regulators, including Pennsylvania, which has criticized the event in the context of betting. This has not stopped licensed sportsbooks in the country from offering betting markets already.
FanDuel Sees Jake Paul as the Most Likely Winner
FanDuel believes that Jake Paul is slated to win as the young boxer will be able to carry on against his much more experienced opponent longer.
While sportsbooks may not be able to offer wagers in every market, a BetMGM statement read that they expect the fight to be the most bet-on event in the sport of all time, bringing the biggest revenue ever clocked by BetMGM for a single fight.
