Michigan: Flint Man Wins $1 Million from Powerball
The lucky winner was so excited that he said his whole body went numb when he realized he had just won $1 million

Everyone that plays the lottery has felt the excitement of winning. Yet, a few are lucky enough to secure a million dollars or more, which undoubtedly marks an unforgettable experience. This is precisely the case of a player from Flint, Michigan, who recently secured a hefty $1 million prize from Powerball, America’s popular lottery.
Jackie McCloud, the 55-year-old winner, didn’t win the grand prize from Powerball. Still, he matched the winning numbers 07, 41, 43, 44 and 51, to win a whopping $1 million after purchasing a ticket from the Michigan Lottery. Last week, the Lottery confirmed that McCloud collected his prize and shared his excitement.
Remembering how he felt when realizing he had won $1 million, the 55-year-old man said that his whole body went numb. Asked what he considers doing upon collecting the hefty Powerball prize, the man admitted that he wants to travel and save the rest of the money.
“I took my ticket to the Michigan Lottery office and that’s when I found out it was worth $1 million! My whole body went numb,“
Jackie McCloud, $1 million Powerball prize winner
Lottery players across Michigan can participate in Powerball by purchasing tickets via retailers. The cost per ticket is $2, while an additional Power Play option is available for an extra $1, granting players a chance to multiply their prize of up to x10 to a maximum of $2 million.
Powerball’s drawings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The game is available in 45 US states, as well as the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Washington DC.
The Winner Thought Something Was Wrong with His Ticket
The lucky winner purchased the winning tickets from the Forward Pinconning Marathon, a venue located on 511 South Mable Street in Pinconning.
After the lottery draw, McCloud attempted to check his ticket by visiting a store. However, he saw a message that encouraged him to visit a retailer. “I thought something was wrong with the scanner, so I took it to a different retailer,” the man said.
On the second try, the 55-year-old man was told by a store clerk that he “won big,” but the clerk couldn’t confirm exactly how much the prize was. Then, McCloud visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters and was shocked to realize he won $1 million.
The last time the Powerball jackpot dropped was early in May. At the time, a winning ticket in Florida secured the mind-blowing $214.9 million. While that jackpot was a far cry from some of the biggest grand prizes from Powerball, which have been in the billions, it is undoubtedly a completely life-changing sum.
