Maryland Woman Scores $50K from the Same Game a Year Apart

A woman has scooped up another significant amount from the lottery, claiming the prize on Thursday, March 5. The $50,000 prize was scored in November 2025, but the winner only showed up at the Maryland Lottery headquarters to pick up her winning ticket nearly four months later.

The Jackpot Numbers Were Copied from Another Winning Ticket 

Winning that much money would have been satisfying, but it is especially noteworthy now that the winner actually won the same amount in November 2024 – another $50,000, once again playing the same game – Bonus Match 5. 

The woman shared some of her lottery strategies, adding that her current $50,000 winning ticket’s numbers were actually copied from a $400 winning ticket where she had used the Quick Pick option, saving lottery players time and assigning numbers at random instead.

“If I have a winning ticket, I play it the next day,” the woman said, and confirmed that Bonus Match 5 is her everyday game. The new jackpot is definitely going to help her along financially, as she will now either purchase a new vehicle or, maybe, remodel her kitchen. 

Bonus Match 5 is one of the better-odds lottery games, with a single ticket costing only $1 to play, although you can buy up to nine boards for up to $6 per ticket. 

What this means is that our mystery winner, assuming she plays a single ticket and purchases all nine boards, would have spent about $2,200 on playing the game before the new jackpot dropped. 

This checks out as a pretty decent return, although there are no guarantees you would ever win, nor that the woman is only playing a single ticket a day.
