Maryland Man Wins $31K from Racetrax

The man told the lottery that he plans to use the money to pay off some bills and take his family on a vacation

A Maryland man has had a huge payday after deciding to play a few games after a visit to the gym. Although he narrowly missed the top prize, he still secured a five-figure sum from the Maryland Lottery.

The Man Could Have Won Even More

The lottery described the winner as a Calvert County father of two who was visiting the gym and decided to stop for a couple of games on the way back. The lucky individual decided to play the lottery’s Racetrax game and won a $31,118.30 prize after matching almost all winning numbers.

The win happened on August 29 when the man played a Superfecta box with the numbers 9, 7, 11 and 12. For context, the winning numbers at the time were 7, 9, 11 and 12. The winner admitted that he had been playing the same combo for years.

The man said that he regrets not hitting the combination straight, as it would have netted him a bigger payout, especially if he was playing a Superfecta straight bet rather than a Superfecta box. In the best-case scenario, the winner could have won $200,000.

“I almost hit it straight. That would have given me over $200,000,” the big winner said when he claimed his money on October 6. He also told the lottery that he is a former casino gambler and horseracing bettor who was introduced to the Racetrax game by a friend.

The man told the lottery that he plans to use the money to pay off some bills and take his family on a vacation.

In the meantime, the 7-Eleven at 7753B Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie will receive a $311 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
