Manchester City vs. Manchester United 2024-25 Premier League Odds, Time, and Prediction
Manchester City vs. Manchester United, a.k.a. the Manchester Derby, is arguably the most interesting soccer game on the program on Sunday, December 15
First played in 1881, the Manchester Derby is one of the greatest soccer rivalries in the world. So far, there have been 194 Manchester City vs. Manchester United meetings, with the Red Devils winning 79 of those. The Cityzens won 61, while the remaining 54 ended in a draw.
In recent years, however, Manchester City has been dominating the fixture, especially in English Premier League games. Pep Guardiola’s men won five of the last six EPL duels with their city rivals.
However, in the 2024-25 season, the defending English champions aren’t playing great at the moment, which is something that’s giving Man United hope they can beat them.

What’s Going on With Manchester City?
The Cityzens are currently 4th in the English Premier League with an 8-3-4 record. Each of those four losses happened in the last five weeks, coinciding with the injury of their key midfielder, Rodri.
But this isn’t supposed to be a one-man team, suggesting that there might be some even bigger underlining problems. One possible explanation behind their poor run is their leaky defense.
Even though they have some really good defenders, the Cityzens have been conceding a lot of goals lately. In their most recent Premier League game, for example, they conceded two goals to Crystal Palace.
This is shocking especially because the Eagles scored two goals in only three other EPL games this season.
Can Man United Take Advantage of City’s Poor Form?
The Red Devils would love to kick their archrivals while they’re down. The problem is that they too are out of shape. Their new coach, Ruben Amorim, made his debut against Everton, leading Man United to a big 4:0 win.
This result put a smile back on the face of Man United fans, but not for too long. In the next game, they lost 2:0 to Arsenal, followed by a humiliating 3:2 loss to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
They’ve got a new coach, but things are pretty much the same as when Erik ten Hag was in charge. So, what’s going on? A possible explanation could be that the Red Devils just aren’t a good team in 2024.
They’re currently 13th in the EPL standings, which is where some punters believe they actually belong. The days when Man United had superstars like George Best, Eric Cantona, or Cristiano Ronaldo are long gone.
Manchester City vs. Manchester United Prediction
It’s really high time for Manchester City to start taking things seriously again. If they want to keep the EPL title in their possession, Pep Guardiola’s men need to get into a winning mode.
The bad news is that, in addition to Rodri, they’ll miss a few other important players, especially in the defensive line. Still, even without as many as six first-team players, they’re still superior to Manchester United.
Pick: Manchester City
