Man Uses Sledgehammer to Break Open a Slot in Atlanta, Georgia
The perp went straight for the cashback, suggesting familiarity with how slot machines work and how to pry open the money compartment

A TikTok video of a man destroying a slot machine in Atlanta, Georgia, has gone viral, after the man apparently premeditated his attack.
In the video, which has garnered over 2 million views at the time of writing, the man enters an unknown location, raises a sledgehammer over his head, and then crashes into the machine.
The video shows a hooded man who is likely acting out a premeditated attack. Yet, the police were nowhere to be seen, and the reason for this is pretty clear – the store owner would be loath to call the police to his illegal gambling venue.
The video also caught on Reddit, where netizens started poking fun at the situation, with one suggesting that the man wasn’t stealing, given that the games were illegal – he was being a vigilante.
Going Straight for the Cash Department
Yet, some more observant users have noted that the man was not just acting in random frenzy. The video shows him hitting the cash box directly, which suggests some familiarity with how slots work in general.
Some users suggested that he may have been employed by a venue that operates slot machines, and was probably familiar with the venue, having scouted it out before attacking, and ensuring that the owner did have a gun, for example.
As to the on-site men, they were roused but apparently not threatened, as the attacker was only interested in that one slot. How he knew whether the attack would be worth it is anyone’s guess. It is not clear what happened after the video ended; the location has not been identified yet.
However, people entering various locations to smash slots is not actually a one-off thing. Again, in Atlanta, in December last year, a man entered a gas station, entered the venue, and started bashing at a slot’s console with a sledgehammer. He was not wearing a mask, and the police have been looking for him ever since.
