Light & Wonder Cleared for Launch in the UAE
On July 18, Light & Wonder announced that it had been granted a gaming-related vendor license by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA)

Light & Wonder, a leading supplier of casino games and content, announced that it has become the latest B2B company to secure a license in the United Arab Emirates. This comes as the UAE prepares to enter the world of gaming.
GCGRA Issued License to Light & Wonder
On July 18, Light & Wonder announced that it had been granted a gaming-related vendor license by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), a body tasked with regulating commercial gaming in the UAE.
Thanks to this license, Light & Wonder will be allowed to legally offer its land-based electronic gaming machines, table games and utilities, and online casino content to operators in the country. As a result, Light & Wonder will tap into a brand-new market, reaching many new players.
The license in the UAE is a major milestone for Light & Wonder and fully aligns with its ambition to remain a leading cross-platform global games company. The company noted that the latest license reflects its ongoing commitment to teaming up with regulators to ensure that it can offer gaming safely, securely, and responsibly.
An Important Milestone for Light & Wonder
Light & Wonder’s chief executive officer, Matt Wilson, weighed in on this important launch, hailing the license from the GCGRA. According to him, this is a very important moment for his team as it will allow it to enter “one of the most anticipated new regulated markets in the world.”
We’re honored to be among the first approved suppliers and are committed to bringing our trusted, responsible, and player-first approach to the UAE.
Matt Wilson, CEO, Light & Wonder
The news comes a month after Light & Wonder released The Wizard of Oz – Follow the Yellow Brick Road. This game, developed in partnership with and exclusively for BetMGM, was among the latest additions to Light & Wonder’s cutting-edge portfolio.
More Providers Saturate the UAE’s Gaming Market
In the meantime, the GCGRA continues to welcome more and more B2B companies, setting the UAE’s gaming market up for success. By scooping up a GCGRA license, Light & Wonder has joined the likes of Fennica Gaming and Scientific Games, which have already procured licenses.
In the meantime, Wynn Resorts’ Al Marjan Island casino hotel project is poised to set a new standard for entertainment, according to the company.
