Harris Hagan to Elevate David Whyte to Partner Role

The executive who has experience with the UK Gambling Commission will be elevated to the role of partner, effective from April 1

Harris Hagan, the company with the largest dedicated gambling legal and regulatory team in the United Kingdom, announced a senior-level promotion. The firm has announced it has decided to promote its senior associate, David Whyte, to the role of partner. Taking the role of partner as of April 1, 2024, Whyte joins Bahar Alaeddini and John Hagan.

The latest announcement comes at a time when Harris Hagan continues to go from strength to strength. In fact, 2024 marks the 20th year for the company that entered the post-White Paper era, offering a wide range of services to its customers.

The recognizable gambling law firm explained that Whyte is recognized not only for his exceptional excellence but also for his deep understanding of the regulatory sector. “His wider experience provides an invaluable contribution to strategic discussions,” John Hagan, the company’s managing partner, wrote. Additionally, he pointed out: “Bahar and I look forward to working in partnership with David as the firm continues to go from strength to strength in its 20th year and enters a post-White Paper era for our clients.”

Whyte took it to his personal LinkedIn page to share his excitement about the promotion to partner at Harris Hagan. “I am proud to join the partnership of a firm that has been ranked Band 1 in Chambers UK and Tier 1 in The Legal 500 since it was established in 2004 and that continues to go from strength to strength in its 20th year,” he wrote. Additionally, Whyte pointed out: “Thank you to John Hagan and Bahar Alaeddini for the opportunity, and to the amazing team at Harris Hagan, our clients and our colleagues for their support.”

The Executive Has Solid Experience

Whyte initially joined Harris Hagan back in 2019. Before becoming a part of the leading gambling law firm, he accumulated significant knowledge within the land-based and online gambling sector after holding important senior-level roles such as general counsel, among others.

The executive’s extensive tenure includes a nine-year stint with the gambling regulator in the UK, the Gambling Commission. During that time, he was involved in the Commission’s legal and enforcement departments. This tenure enabled him to gain invaluable insights into the gambling sector and regulatory framework in the country.

The extensive knowledge and skills Whyte accumulated continue to help him to this day. He provides valuable advice and strategic guidance for B2B and B2C gambling operators as well as start-up companies. Whyte’s significant knowledge includes compliance assessment, remote license applications, corporate evaluations and other legal-related matters.
