Guest Sues Mississippi Casino After Rude Awakening & Trespassing Charges
The guest alleges that Silver Slipper violated its end of the agreement and that he never received the hospitality he was promised
A Wisconsin man is suing a Mississippi casino, the workers of which awoke him to move a camper that wasn’t even his. To make matters worse, the casino involved the police, chased the man out, and raised trespassing charges against him.
A Casino Visit Turned Sour
A year ago, Mark Charron of Wisconsin was visiting Bay St. Louis for a few days. The man had decided to stay at Silver Slipper Casino & Hotel, hoping for a calm and enjoyable stay. However, the stay turned out to be anything but.
The man, who was traveling with a truck and a camper trailer was even allowed to park his vehicle on the casino property’s back lot. On the following day, Charron was asked to move it to another lot, which he did with the help of a hotel employee.
However, that very same night, the guest received a rude awakening by other Silver Slipper hotel workers telling him to “move that fucking camper.” Charron tried to explain that he already did and that they are likely referring to a different vehicle that wasn’t his. When the furious hotel workers refused to listen, he closed the door and returned to bed.
The hotel workers immediately involved security and called the police, who knocked on Charron’s door once again, asking him to leave the premises immediately. He was told that he was trespassing, despite his repeated efforts to explain that the problematic camper wasn’t even his. Eventually, the police admitted that the camper was irrelevant and that the casino just wanted him out.
Charron begrudgingly complied and packed his things. He received his own camper shortly after and was ready to depart, but stopped to take photographs of the other camper that started the whole ordeal. His decision to stop his vehicle instead of speeding away caused him even more headaches as he was promptly arrested on charges of trespassing.
Luckily, all charges were later dropped, but Charron is not ready to forgive Silver Slipper yet.
Charron Says the Casino Breached Its Contract and Acted in Bad Faith
Charron has now launched a lawsuit against the casino, asserting that it is liable for the actions of its employees. He alleged that Silver Slipper had violated its end of the agreement and that he never received the hospitality he was promised.
Charron added that he was kicked out despite having paid and despite violating none of the casino’s rules. His complaint emphasized that the casino staff acted in bad faith, resulting in Charron’s arrest.
The man is now seeking compensation and punitive damages.
