Great Canadian Entertainment and the Ts’elxwéyeqw Group, representing seven First Nation communities, announced that they have reached a definitive agreement for the Ts’elxwéyeqw Group to purchase Elements Casino Chilliwack

The deal was finalized on November 7, 2025, and represents a major milestone for the communities in the Fraser Valley region.

“An Exciting Milestone for Our Nations”

Elements Casino Chilliwack has long been a top entertainment destination in Chilliwack, offering more than 300 slot machines, live and electronic table games, bingo, dining, and live entertainment. The casino has drawn visitors from across the Fraser Valley since it opened and has become an important part of the local economy and culture.

“This purchase marks an exciting milestone for our Nations and for the entire territory,” said Chief David Jimmie, Chief of Squiala First Nation and President of Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe Management Ltd

“By coming together in partnership, we are not only investing in a strong business opportunity, but also in the future of our people. The revenues generated through this acquisition will help strengthen our communities, create new opportunities, and ensure our Nations continue to play a leading role in the local economy.”, Chief Jimmie added.

“Additionally, we believe that local community-based ownership of Elements Casino Chilliwack will further strengthen the broader Fraser Valley community and economy. It’s a proud moment that reflects how Indigenous leadership and collaboration can build a stronger, more inclusive future for everyone.”

“An Exciting New Chapter”

Matt Anfinson, chief executive officer of Great Canadian Entertainment, added that the company is confident the casino will thrive under the new ownership.

“We have had the privilege of being part of the Chilliwack community since we opened Elements Casino Chilliwack in 2012, and we believe that under the Ts’elxwéyeqw Group’s stewardship, the business will begin an exciting new chapter. For the team members and guests of Elements Casino Chilliwack, and the local community, we can think of no better owner for the business,” he said. “We look forward to the closing and then working with the Ts’elxwéyeqw Group team during the transition period.”

The transaction is still subject to standard closing conditions and regulatory approvals. As part of the agreement, Great Canadian Entertainment will provide transitional support for a period after the sale to ensure a smooth handover.

Legal and financial support for the deal comes from McCarthy Tétrault LLP and KPMG Corporate Finance Inc. for the Ts’elxwéyeqw Group, with McMillan LLP acting as legal counsel for Great Canadian Entertainment. At the start of the month, Snuneymuxw First Nation announced the acquisition of River Rock Casino Resort and Chances Maple Ridge from the same leading gaming and entertainment company.
