France vs. Team US Olympic Soccer Odds, Time, and Prediction
In the first round of the 2024 Olympic soccer tournament, the team representing the host nation France will play against Team US. The match will take place at Stade de Marseille on Wednesday, July 24, with the 3:00 p.m. kickoff
The France vs. Team US Olympic Soccer game is guaranteed to be an exciting affair given that both teams are packed with young and talented players. Judging by the betting odds, France is more likely to win. In fact, this team is the No. 1 favorite to win Gold.
However, keep in mind that the Olympic team isn’t a regular national team. Instead, only three players on the roster can be older than 23. Further, the Olympic Games come right after a busy soccer season, which is why we won’t see France’s biggest stars compete for the gold medal. In fact, none of the French players who won second place at the 2024 Euro will take part in this tournament. Is this something the USMNT can take advantage of? Let’s find out!

When, Where, and How to Watch?

Reasons Why France are Favored to Win the Olympic Gold
The No. 1 reason why the France Olympic Soccer Team is the main favorite to win Gold with outright odds of +250 is that the tournament is taking place on their turf. Of course, that wouldn’t be much of a factor if France’s roster wasn’t great.
The three players Olympic coach Thierry Henry picked are Alexandre Lacazette, Loic Bade, and Jean-Philippe Mateta. Lacazette, who’s the team captain, is the only player who’s older than 30.
His experience could come in handy if France get into a situation where they need to go all-in on the offense. Speaking of which, it’s very likely they will play offensive soccer as that’s the style their coach seems to prefer.
The evidence of this is that under Henry’s helm, these guys scored a total of 12 goals in the three games played this July. Another reason for France’s high-scoring output is that this team’s best players Michael Olise, Enzo Millot, and Desire Doue are all forwards.
Can Team USA Upset the Odds on July 24?
The United States Men’s Olympic Soccer Team is playing at the Games for the first time since 2008. Coached by Marko Mitrović, this team isn’t expected to do much this summer, but you can be 100% certain that these guys will give their utmost in every single game.
They’re motivated, there’s no doubt about that, but what about their skills? Well, the USMNT does have plenty of pretty good players on the Olympic roster. Captain Walker Zimmerman is one of the three “overage” players on this team. His colleague from the USA defensive line Miles Robinson is another one, while the third over-23 player is midfielder Djordje Mihailovic.
Together with two Venezia FC players, Tanner Tessmann and Gianluca Busio, Mihailovic completes a very good midfield trio. These players look capable of controlling the game and keeping the French far away from their goal.
France vs. Team US Olympics Prediction
France might be a -256 favorite to beat Team US on July 24, but despite what the Olympics odds are suggesting, we don’t think Thierry Henry’s boys will have an easy job. Instead, they’ll need to work real hard to find a way to break through the American defense wall. Will they do it? They probably will, but not too many times.
Pick: France & Under 2.5 Goals
