Former NBA Star Lamar Odom Reportedly Arrested for DUI
The NBA legend has been nabbed by police officers after they spotted him speeding, possibly inebriated - he is due in court in March
Lamar Odom has run afoul of the law in a newly-surfaced report that alleges that the man was arrested speeding in Las Vegas early on Saturday. The ex-NBA forward was supposedly speeding at 41 miles per hour over the speed limit and had difficulty steering his car when police asked him to stop.
Former NBA Ace Odom Arrested on New DUI Charge
Police officers and official documents seen by TMZ, the media that did the original reporting, allege that Odom was stopped on suspicion that he was driving under the influence, or DUI. He was set a court date for March 17 and a bail of $4,000.
This is not the first time the old guard NBA player has done something similar, and he has a similar arrest in 2013, once again because of a DUI. Then, in 2015, he overdosed at the Love Ranch South brothel and had to be rushed to a hospital, where medics saved his life after dealing with multiple strokes and organ failure.
Odom’s story, though, is not one of spiralling vice, as he has admitted his faults openly and has advocated for more awareness about issues such as drug and alcohol dependency. His 2015 stunt, however, cost him his marriage in 2016 when he had another bout with substances, but he did not stop trying to better himself, checking himself into rehab on several occasions.
Odom’s track record in the NBA is nothing short of legendary, having won two championships with the Lakers and earning as much as $114 million from his cumulative 14 seasons in the league.
He divorced Chloe Kardashian in ‘16 after he relapsed again. He is not the only high-profile athlete to have been caught as part of a DUI. In October, former Detroit Lions player Tracy Walker III was booked as well.
