Court Issues Bench Warrant for Woman Who Abandoned Puppy at Harry Reid Airport
The woman’s family contacted the court, saying that she was hospitalized and could not attend court, but did not provide any documentation to prove this claim
A few months ago, authorities arrested a woman who abandoned her dog at an airport in Las Vegas. Now, the woman has failed to appear in court, resulting in the issuing of a bench warrant.
The Woman Abandoned the Animal Since She Was in a Hurry to Catch a Flight
On February 2, a woman by the name of Germiran Denae Nicole Bryson was in a hurry to catch a flight. However, she had not completed her paperwork to take her dog, a two-year-old goldendoodle mix.
Since Bryson did not wish to miss her flight, she tied the animal to a JetBlue ticket counter before hurrying to the gate alone. However, the police eventually started looking for the dog’s owner. An officer eventually found her at the gate and led her away, despite her protests.
The woman insisted that she was told to hurry to the gate and re-book the flight on the go, saying that she would have been reunited with the dog later. The woman also said that the dog had a tracking chip and would eventually return to her.
Bryson quickly started protesting when she was asked to follow the police officers, who wished to reunite her with the dog and take her statement.
The woman was eventually arrested. Bryson was ultimately allowed to go without posting bond since she was only charged with misdemeanor charges.
In the meantime, the dog was taken to the Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas and renamed JetBlue.
The Woman Didn’t Appear in Court to Face the Charges
The story doesn’t end there, as Bryson, who was set to appear in court last week, failed to do so. Justice of the Peace Diana Sullivan said that Bryson’s family had contacted the court, saying that the woman was hospitalized.
However, the family was unable to provide the court with the appropriate documentation to confirm this claim. As a result, the court issued a $5,000 cash or surety bench warrant for Bryson.
This means that the woman could be arrested and immediately returned to Las Vegas to attend the court she missed.
