To his surprise, his ticket was the sole division one winning entry from the game’s draw on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the Lott announced. Matching correctly the winning numbers, the man scored a mind-blowing AU$8 million ($5.38 million) jackpot.

The winning ticket for the popular lottery game was purchased by the Queenslander, whose name was not disclosed, from Market Place News, Shop 2 Centenary Park Place, 96 McLaughlin Road in Bentley Park. Considering the Bentley Park man is the sole division one ticket holder, he will collect the entire AU$8 million ($5.38 million) jackpot.

The Winner May Consider Buying a New Car

When interviewed by officials from the Lott, the lucky winner didn’t share any plans about the unexpected windfall but revealed that he was pleasantly surprised. Still, he hinted at the possibility of buying a new car. “I really am unsure, but I’ll definitely buy a new car,” said the Bentley Park man.

The winner, who is a retiree, was surprised by a phone call from a lottery official, giving him the good news. The man admitted to buying lottery tickets occasionally, saying that he has been playing “since it first started – God knows!“

Recalling the day he purchased the winning ticket, the winner said that he had just visited the dentist. “We were at the dentist, and I thought I’d buy an Oz Lotto ticket straight after the appointment. Who would’ve known that this ticket would deliver an $8 million win.”

Recently, an Australian Powerball player was in shock after scoring an AU$12 million ($8.2 million) jackpot win. The man matched the winning numbers from the game’s 1481 draw, securing the life-changing jackpot prize.
