xQc May Be Returning to Twitch, and Still Discreetly Promote Casinos
The streamer quit the Amazon-owned streaming giant back in 2022 when he was unhappy with the company’s decision to cut all channels linked to promoting gambling
xQc, real name Félix Lengyel, has mused about the possibility of returning to Twitch. Yet, the streamer does not intend to drop his sponsorships with prominent gambling companies, and specifically, Stake.
Twitch Gambling Rules May Not Apply to Banners
While Twitch prohibits direct affiliate links and explicit branding, xQc has said that he could run promotional banners in the background without any specific call to action, which could allow him a way in with the platform, while respecting its current gambling rules.
xQc is not making this up on the fly, either, as he cited the case of other streamers and pro esports athletes who have used similar background branding to promote gambling websites, some of which are not necessarily licensed in the United States.
xQc is now moving forward with a banner that he will embed in his stream to try to see if Twitch would consider this to be a breach of the platform’s gambling rules. He first spoke about this in November.
xQc Is Biding His Time as He Prepares to Test His Theory
Following the change of gambling policy, xQc was among the first to withdraw from the platform and criticize it over what he argued was a high-handed approach to regulating viewers’ right to see the content they wanted to.
xQc moved on to Kick, a platform that was more liberal in its promotion of gambling and allowed consumers to use the built-in functionalities of the platform to limit and restrict any content they would not like to see, including gambling.
