Wynn Resumes Work on Al Marjan Island Project Following Brief Pause
Wynn added that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and thanked its teams in the UAE for their commitment
International gaming and hospitality giant Wynn Resorts has published an update on its Wynn Al Marjan Island project in the UAE, confirming that construction has resumed after a short pause related to the ongoing war in Iran.
Wynn Had Halted the Construction Due to the War in Iran
Wynn Resorts previously halted its work on the project due to the recent eruption of the conflict in Iran. In its retaliation, Iran fired at several US bases in the Middle East, sparking certain safety concerns and causing Wynn to pause the development of its resort in Ras Al Khaimah.
In an update published on March 11, Wynn said that it remains in close contact with the governments of the United States and Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, allowing it to make informed decisions. Thanks to that, Wynn concluded that the “broad defense posture of the UAE has worked extremely well” and emphasized that it trusts in the UAE’s ability to keep its population safe.
As a result, Wynn said that it has resumed work on its Wynn Al Marjan Island project.
We note that for broad segments of the local population, business continues to follow normal patterns. Our project construction has resumed following a short pause. Steps have been taken to ensure the safety and security of all employees working on site.
Wynn statement
Wynn elaborated that its design and development team, responsible for the architecture, and design of the project, and the resort executive team leading operational strategy and planning, have both returned to the project.
Wynn added that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and thanked its teams in the UAE for their commitment.
Wynn Suffered a Severe Cyberattack
In other news, Wynn Resorts just became the victim of a cyberattack, leading to the loss of 800,000 internal records. Wynn acknowledged the attack but refused to comment on the matter further, declining to confirm whether it plans to pay the ransom the hackers demanded or not.
While the company said that there was no evidence of consumer data being leaked, customers filed lawsuits against the company, claiming that it had failed to properly encrypt its customers’ information and shield it from potential data breaches.
