Virginia Lottery Player Buys 30 Winning Tickets in a Single Drawing

Any lottery win can bring excitement, but scoring a top prize is undoubtedly even more thrilling. In the case of one retiree from Chesapeake, Virginia, the thrill was multiplied by 30 times. This is because the lucky player hit a winning combination on a total of 30 lottery tickets within the same drawing.

The Winner Couldn’t Believe It at First, Admitted to Checking the Tickets Again and Again

The incredibly lucky man, whose name is Patrick Murphy, purchased 30 tickets for the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game. The man bought his tickets from 7-Eleven on 1928 Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake. To Murphy’s surprise, all of his tickets for the Pick 4 game drawing on September 19 came back as winners, bringing him a hefty win of $136,200.

Visiting the Lottery headquarters recently, the fortunate man revealed: “I couldn’t believe it! I had to look over and over!” When asked by Lottery officials the man admitted that he doesn’t have any present plans for the lottery winnings. Still, the retiree said he wants to pay some bills.

To win the hefty prize Murphy guessed correctly the winning combination from the drawing which was 2-7-7-0. However, in the case of the lucky player, he purchased a total of 24 tickets with “exact order,” along with six tickets with a “50/50” wager.

Each of the “exact order” tickets won $5,000, while each of the “50/50” bet tickets won $2,700 for a total payout of $136,200. The odds of matching the four numbers in exact order for the game’s top prize are 1 in 10,000.

Pick 4 Players Can Win a Top Prize of $5,000

Players who want to participate in Pick 4 can either enter with a $0.50 ticket or a $1 ticket. The game offers daily drawings at 1:59 PM and 11 PM, granting players a chance to win prizes between $1 and $5,000.
