Tuesday Mega Millions Drawing Goes by, Six Players Win 5-Figure Sums
No one matched all five white Mega Millions numbers either, meaning that there was no recipient of a second-tier seven-figure prize
Just like Powerball, Mega Millions seems to be experiencing the occasional lull that usually comes after a big prize has been won. As a result, the Tuesday drawing crowned no big winner, although a few lucky players scooped up five-figure sums.
The Jackpot Remained Unclaimed and Continued to Grow
The most recent Mega Millions saw the jackpot elude players, ensuring that the prize will continue to grow. While still a far shot from the $983 million prize that landed in November, the game’s jackpot has now reached $303 million with a one-time lump sum option of $136.7 million. The next drawing is set to take place on Friday, January 30, at 11 pm ET.
In the meantime, let’s take a look at how the players at the Tuesday drawing fared. As mentioned, no one managed to match all numbers correctly, leaving the top prize uncollected. For reference, the winning numbers were 4, 20, 38, 56, and 66. The Mega Ball was 5.
If a player had matched all of these numbers correctly, they would have been in for a $285 million windfall if they selected the annuity option, or $128.6 million if they picked the lump-sum option.
No one matched all five white numbers either, meaning that there was no recipient of a second-tier seven-figure prize. However, six players managed to correctly guess four white numbers and the Mega Ball, winning five-figure sums each. These included two players who took $20,000, three who collected $30,000 due to their 3x multiplier, and a single one who scooped up $50,000 thanks to their 5x multiplier.
Previous Winner Couldn’t Convince the Court He Had Won the Entire Jackpot
In other news, Faramarz Lahijani, a player who in 2023 won half of a $394 million jackpot from Mega Millions, just lost a court battle over the remaining half of the jackpot. The man claimed that he had bought two identical tickets but lost one of them. Unfortunately for Mr Lahijani, the court seemed unconvinced by his claim.
Beyond that, a Michigan Lottery player just won $2 million from a scratch-off ticket. The lucky man was excited by this development and admitted that although he occasionally dabbles with lottery gaming, he does not have a preferred ticket and had bought his at random.
This came shortly after the lottery announced that a woman from the same state had won $6 million from another game. The woman said that she plans to use the money to change other people’s lives.
