Tipico Completes ATLAS Group Acquisition from NOVOMATIC
Tipico added that it is set to divest some of its local retail outlets, per the Austrian Federal Competition Authority’s requirements for approving the transaction

Tipico Group, a leading sports betting and iGaming company in the German-speaking region, has confirmed the completion of its acquisition of ATLAS Group, the parent company of Austria’s ADMIRAL Group. The company said that this transaction aligns with its local strategy.
Tipico Will Divest Some of Its Land-Based Shops
According to Tipico’s official press release, its acquisition of 100% of ATLAS Group from NOVOMATIC has been completed. Tipico clarified that this investment is an important part of its Austrian strategy, as well as an overall reinforcement of its portfolio.
The transaction will also benefit NOVOMATIC, which has been looking to sharpen its focus on international expansion and cementing itself as a “global innovation leader in the industry.”
Tipico added that both its core brand and the ADMIRAL brand will remain active in Austria’s online gaming market and will continue to offer their online products.
At the same time, Tipico added that it is set to divest some of its local retail outlets, per the Austrian Federal Competition Authority’s requirements for approving the transaction. The company added that its remaining land-based shops will operate under the ADMIRAL brand instead.
The Deal Aligns with Both Companies’ Vision
Axel Hefer, Tipico Group’s chief executive officer, said that he was delighted about the completion of the agreement. He lauded ADMIRAL as a “leading Austrian company with a strong legacy, and clear potential for future growth” and added that both ADMIRAL and Tipico share a commitment to cutting-edge tech, innovation, and player protection.
Our future collaboration is very good news for our customers. This investment marks an important step in Tipico’s growth strategy and underscores our leading role in the German-speaking markets.
Axel Hefer, CEO, Tipico Group
Stefan Krenn, executive board member of NOVOMATIC, was likewise pleased with the transaction’s completion. He called it an “important step” in his team’s ongoing global expansion and focus on international growth markets.
ADMIRAL has developed into an established market leader over the past decades, and we thank all ADMIRAL employees for their great commitment. We are pleased to have found a strong and reliable technology partner in Tipico, who will successfully continue the company’s operations in Austria.

NOVOMATIC recently submitted an improved bid for Ainsworth Game Technology (ATG), shortly after the latter company lambasted the former’s earlier takeover offer, saying that it undervalues the business.
