Thai Woman Seduced 9 Buddhist Monks, Extorted Them for Gambling Money
A woman who seduced Buddhist monks and blackmailed them for gambling money has been arrested and charged

A 35-year-old Thai woman is accused of having had sex with at least nine Buddhist monks on separate occasions, part of an extortionist scheme she orchestrated to reportedly fund her gambling habits.
A Woman Traded Sex to Fund Gambling Worth Millions
She spent an estimated $11.9 million on online gambling, according to the Thai Royal Police. The suspect, Wilan Emsawat, targeted senior Buddhist monks, expecting that they would be able to pay money in exchange for her silence.
Emsawat approached her victims, feigning a genuine romantic interest, and would quickly move to seduce them. Buddhist monks swear celibacy. The woman would then convince her victims to engage in sexual intercourse with them and film the acts with her smartphone.
Later, she would reveal to her former lovers that she had everything on tape and threatened to release it unless the victims agreed to pay for her silence. At least nine monks have agreed to do so, most of whom appeared to be high-ranking Buddhists.
More are suspected of having been approached by the woman and of having engaged in sexual intercourse with her. The suspect herself is also facing money laundering charges as well as receiving stolen goods.
Thai Government Responds in a Bizarre Way
Her downfall was not necessarily of her design, and the Buddhists who were her victims did not wish to seek help from law enforcement. Rather, one monk refused to pay and quit the Wat Tri Thotsathep Worawihan temple in Bangkok without notice. The monk in question, Phra Thep Wachirapamok, supposedly fled to Laos, but police discovered several phones connected to the monk.
From them, they were able to extract information that made police aware of the ongoing extortionist scheme. The woman was arrested shortly after. Yet even more bizarrely, the Thai government is debating whether it should introduce a law that criminalizes women having sex with monks.
