Tabcorp Adds Telecommunication & Tech Expert to Team

Tabcorp hailed the appointee as an experienced director with a deep understanding of the telecommunications and technology sectors. Since both aspects are very important to Tabcorp’s business, the new appointment is expected to significantly strengthen the company’s board.

Stewart’s appointment as a non-executive director is subject to regulatory approvals. If all necessary approvals are obtained, he will step into the office on November 1.

Stewart is currently serving as a non-executive director of Superloop and has previously worked for Callafin Partners and Bigtincan.

As mentioned, Stewart will fill one of two vacancies created by the departure of ex-board members Bruce Akhurst and Justin Milne. The former was replaced by Brett Chenoweth, who stepped in as chair a year ago.

Stewart’s Expertise Will Be a Valuable Asset

Chenoweth welcomed Stewart to the Tabcorp team, praising him as a corporate powerhouse with a crucial understanding of sectors that matter to the company.

We’re pleased to welcome Vivian to the Tabcorp board. He’s an experienced director with a deep knowledge of the telecommunications and technology sectors, which is critical as it underpins a large part of our business.

Brett Chenoweth, chair, Tabcorp

Chenoweth added that Stewart’s knowledge will be an invaluable asset to the Tabcorp team as the company continues to innovate and improve its product offering. In addition to that, the chair said that the appointee also brings important and substantial commercial expertise, which is why Tabcorp is looking forward to adding him to its board.

Former Tabcorp Boss Encouraged Stricter Gaming Ads Rules

Speaking of Tabcorp, the company’s former boss, Elmer Funke Kupper, just issued a warning over the existing regulatory framework protecting consumers in Australia. According to him, the Albanese Government needs to step up its game when it comes to protecting consumers from the harmful influence of gambling ads.

Kupper’s warnings came as studies suggested that currently 600,000 Aussie teenagers between 12 and 17 had gambled in the past year, despite Australia’s prohibition of underage gambling.
