Resorts World Las Vegas Appoints Duo of Legal Experts

Resorts World has strengthened its team with two legal experts who bring their extensive experience to boost Las Vegas operations

Resorts World Las Vegas has announced that it is bringing more legal heavyweights to bolster its operations at a time of slowing demand for Sin City-based properties. Despite the dip in tourist numbers, however, the property has found it germane to bring in more legal aid to bolster its local operations.

The appointments include that of Lou Dorn, as CLO and corporate secretary, and Elizabeth Tranchina, who will take the role of general counsel.  Both hires are seasoned individuals and experts who will deliver impeccable results.

Dorn has held multiple public service and private-sector positions. He joins Resorts World from a rival, Bally’s Corporation, where he spent time as SVP and general counsel for North America, and oversaw the company’s 19 casino and resort properties in terms of legal operations.

This includes iGaming and sports wagering platforms, ensuring that the company’s offer is up to regulatory snuff. Before working at Bally’s, he worked with Monarch Casino & Resort, Aliante Casino and Hotel, and the Las Vegas Hilton, as well as SLS Las Vegas, demonstrating his clear and impeccable track record.

In a statement, Resorts World Las Vegas chairman Jim Murren had this to say, commenting on Dorn’s appointment:

“Lou brings an exceptional depth of experience in gaming law and regulatory compliance that will be instrumental as we continue to grow and evolve. His leadership will help ensure our operations remain forward-thinking, responsible, and built on a strong legal foundation.”

Dorn has welcomed the news himself, arguing that joining the company at such a dynamic time was something he was looking forward to.

“Having spent my career navigating the complexities of gaming law and regulatory compliance, I look forward to supporting the resort’s continued success by ensuring we operate with the highest standards of legal integrity and strategic governance,” Dorn explained, confident that whatever new challenges emerge, Resorts World will be able to overcome them.

Experience in Gaming and Banking Regulation

As to Tranchina, she is another regulatory heavyweight who started out as Assistant Attorney General in the Gaming Division for the Louisiana Department of Justice.

Tranchina also recently held the role of general counsel for Investar Bank and oversaw 20 of its branches across several states.

Commenting on her appointment, as well, Resorts World Las Vegas president and CFO Carlos Castro simply said: Elizabeth brings a steady, solutions-oriented mindset to complex legal challenges. Her experience across gaming and financial services adds valuable perspective to our leadership team, and her contributions will be instrumental as we continue to grow.”
