Reasons Why Champions League Odds Favor PSG

Paris Saint-Germain FC are a game away from booking a spot in the Champions League Final for the first time in this club’s history. The last time they reached the semifinals was in 2021 when Manchester City crushed their dreams.

Now, they’re facing another English team, but this time around, they’re favored to advance to the title match. It’s because the French champions did great in the first leg, which saw them beat Arsenal 1:0 in London.

Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal of the match in the fourth minute on an assist by Kvitcha Kvaratshkelia. Dembele later got injured and was subbed, but according to the French international, it’s nothing scary.

He was one of the best players on the pitch that day, but PSG’s true here was goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma who went 5-for-5 with saves. It was one of his best performances this entire season.

Can Arsenal Beat PSG in Paris?

If there’s a takeaway from the first Arsenal vs. PSG game, it’s that the Gunners are missing a clinical striker. They made 10 goal chances in that game but failed to find the net.

This is actually not too surprising given that their overall top scorer in the 2024-25 season – Kai Havertz – is out with an injury. The same goes for Arsenal’s No. 9, Gabriel Jesus.

As a result, the job of goal-scoring has been done by wingers and midfielders. In fact, in the four Champions League games before the PSG clash, Arsenal scored 14 goals in total, and just one of those was the work of a natural striker (Leandro Trossard).

The rest were scored by wingers (Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli), midfielders (Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Martin Odegaard, and Ethan Chidiebere), and defenders (Justin Timber and Riccardo Calafiori).

PSG vs. Arsenal Prediction

Unlike the game in London, our prediction is that the Paris game will see plenty of goals. The visitors from England have no other option but to attack from the very start, which will leave room for PSG’s counterattacks. That said, we think both teams will score at least once.
