Prime Sportsbook Joins New Jersey’s Booming Sports Betting Market
The introduction of Prime Sportsbook on March 31 increases the count of authorized online New Jersey sports betting operators to 19

Prime Sportsbook has quietly entered the bustling sports betting scene in New Jersey, marking its soft launch on Easter Sunday, March 31, and offering another avenue for Garden State bettors.
Prime Sportsbook Offers Web Access, Mobile Apps Expected Later On
As of now, Prime Sportsbook New Jersey is accessible solely via web browsers, with the anticipation of iOS and Android versions soon becoming available in the state.
The debut of Prime Sportsbook on March 31 brings the tally of approved online New Jersey sports betting operators to 19. It operates under the sports wagering license of Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, positioning itself as an online “skin” in the Garden State.
According to information gleaned from the sportsbook’s website, state gambling regulators mandate two additional soft play days on Monday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 2, as part of the launch process.
Prime Sportsbook, which is already operational in Ohio, also has plans to extend its reach to Kentucky with an online sportsbook product.
While joining an already saturated market, Prime Sportsbook aims to provide a distinctive betting experience. The company’s executive chairman, Joe Brennan Jr., emphasized their willingness to accept bets from “sharp” bettors, offer reduced vig, and accommodate significant wagers, a departure from certain practices observed among established operators.
Prime Sportsbook Challenges Industry Norms, Aims to Redefine Betting Experience
This move resonates with some segments of the sports gambling community critical of current industry norms. Issues such as limiting certain players, especially successful ones, have been acknowledged within the industry and by legalization proponents.
Prime Sportsbook seeks to redefine the sports gambling experience for many Americans, particularly those who began betting online after the 2018 PASPA decision.
Despite the entry of newcomers like Prime Sportsbook, the dominance of established players like FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook remains unchallenged. These giants, with pre-existing massive customer databases, continue to command a significant portion of both the handle and operator revenue each month, estimated at over 70%.
New Jersey offers a diverse array of sports betting options, with numerous online sportsbooks tied to different land-based properties. Properties like Borgata AC, Resorts Atlantic City, and Hard Rock AC boast impressive retail sportsbooks, equipped with large video walls, numerous betting kiosks, and live odds feeds for in-play betting enthusiasts.
Monmouth Park stands out as a complete package, housing a top-notch retail book by William Hill alongside digital platforms like The Score and Play SugarHouse. The property’s state-of-the-art facilities provide an immersive in-person betting experience.Other notable venues include Freehold Raceway, Golden Nugget, Harrah’s, Tropicana, and Wild Wild West, each offering unique features such as VIP areas, expansive LED screens, private betting caves, and dedicated sports bars.
