Powerball Players Fail to Get the Jackpot as New Cycle Begins
The winning numbers for the April 8 drawing were 3, 16, 17, 42, and 52, plus the red Powerball 3
Powerball is experiencing the usual lull that follows a jackpot win. While the Wednesday drawing went without a jackpot winner or a Match 5 winner, however, four players won six-figure prizes thanks to Power Play.
The Wednesday Drawing Was, for the Most Part, Uneventful
The Wednesday drawing, as mentioned, went without a big winner, which isn’t all that surprising considering that the Powerball jackpot landed only several days ago. For reference, the winning numbers for the April 8 drawing were 3, 16, 17, 42, and 52, plus the red Powerball 3.
If a player had matched all of them, they would have won a jackpot of $20 million, or $9.1 million if they went with the one-time lump-sum payment. However, that did not happen, allowing the prize to continue growing.
The Wednesday drawing did not award seven-figure prizes either, as no one succeeded in matching the five white numbers. However, a total of nine players won the game’s third-tier prize after matching four white numbers and the red Powerball. These included five players who won $50,000 each, as well as four others who will take home $100,000 each instead, thanks to the Power Play feature.
The Power Play modifier for the April 8 drawing was 2x.
The next Powerball drawing is set to take place this Saturday.
Delaware Player Won the $231M Powerball Jackpot
As mentioned, the Powerball jackpot was just won. The life-changing $231 million prize went to a ticket-holder in Delaware who will be able to either take the full sum as an annuity, or do what most lottery winners do and opt for the one-time payment of $104.3 million.
The same drawing also awarded a $2 million March 5 prize to a Texan who had the Power Play feature active.
In other lottery news, the Nary Lim Living Trust of Lowell just won a spectacular $4 million prize from one of the Massachusetts Lottery’s scratch-off games. What made the win special was the fact that this was the last top prize in the $4,000,000 Gold 50X game, as well as the fact that a representative of the trust that won opted for the annuity option rather than the lump sum.
