Player Wins $1M Using Same Lottery Numbers Her Mom Used to Win $6.4M
- A woman played the same numbers as her mom did years ago to win a seven-figure prize from the Illinois Lottery - just like her mom (almost) did
One Southern Illinois Lottery player managed to win a seven-figure prize, with the event publicized earlier this week, after participating in the online Lotto back in March. The upshot was $1,000,005 prize, turning the woman into an instant millionaire.
Woman Used Her Mom’s $6.4M Jackpot Numbers to Win the Lottery Years Later
But, there is one major twist – the numbers have already been played once before, by the winner’s mother, who won $6.4 million back in the day, with one important caveat.
The mom had forgotten to submit the payslip and never qualified nor claimed the prize herself, leaving a bitter regret in her, as this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Or was it?
As fate would have it, her daughter – the present winner – used the same numbers to scoop her $1,000,005 win instead, making for a truly bizarre and anecdotal outcome.
“The numbers were drawn exactly as she had them—she just never played the ticket. So my mother told me, ‘Play these numbers. One day, they’ll hit,”
And hit they did! The win occurred on March 21, and the magic numbers, if you believe in such things and want to play them yourself, are 2, 14, 16, 31, 40, 46.
The numbers secured the Lotto Million 2 drawing for $1,000,000 with an extra $5 win secured on a separate line. The winner’s family was in utter disbelief, naturally, but so was the winner.
“My husband, daughter, and I were at home in disbelief. I asked myself, ‘Is this really true?” the anonymous woman asked. It appears so. She described the numbers as a “blessing” from her mother, and the family is now planning an all-inclusive trip to the Bahamas, well deserved, too, as well as the purchase of new cars.
Some people love to indulge, and why not? It’s almost like the day of a big inheritance.
